5 Must-have Boots Under $50

Over the knee boots-outfit
I love boots. Riding boots, over the knee boots, booties, rain boots, pointy boots, wedge ankle boots, high heel boots. Yes, pretty much every single style that exists. However, is it just me or do they seem to go up in price every year? Ok, inflation but seriously, some of my favorite styles can be way pricey. Determined to make my budget stretch this year, I rounded up a handful of my favorites for under $50! Yes, these are not only super rad and perfect for Fall/Winter but they’re also affordable.

1. Over the Knee Boots

$39.99 TJ Maxx (in-store)

These boots were a steal and are beyond comfortable. Perfect for a date night with the Mister. I love how I’m able to wear a skirt or even a comfy sweater dress during cold nights and still stay warm. Well, warm enough for us Californian residents, that is. My husband always jokes with me that I could never handle living in a city with real seasons. And he’s absolutely right. I’m cold once it hits below 70 degrees folks. It’s safe to say I’m not moving to Milwaukee anytime soon. I’d love to visit that gorgeous city, though. 😉

 4. Rain Boots

$49.95 or price match! Nordstrom Joules Welly Rain Boot

We don’t get much rain out here but lately it’s been pouring. These fit in perfectly with my black and white wardrobe obsession and they’re currently on sale at Nordstrom!

5. Lace Up Boots

$49.99 + 30% off Karlee Lace Up Boots

Target for the win again! These boots are by far my favorite as they have a full side zipper which makes them easy to get on and off. And the chunky heel is comfortable enough to run errands even with the kids.

Burgundy Love

Forever21-Dress-Burgundy-Sleeveless
Fall fashion is in full swing and I’m excited to share a color that’s currently on repeat over here. And when I say repeat, I mean it’s on myself, the girls and even our accessories. It’s the perfect shade for Fall and goes well with just about any other color — Burgundy.

This Forever21 burgundy mock neck dress is only $12. Love that it has a classic look to it with its short-sleeved silhouette and perfect Fall length. I paired it with some pointy leopard double strap flats (Target clearance score $14). But notice how I didn’t add tights or layers for that matter? Well, that’s due to our Southern California heat wave we’re experiencing at the moment. We’ve been back in the 90s post-Halloween. Yes! You read that correctly. Summer all over again. I can not wait to add a cozy vest, and fancy heels to this dress once the temperatures start to drop a bit.

And how cute are these ultra soft Little Miss Dessa jersey knit ruffle dresses? Love how they can also be used as tops with leggings as the girls grow.

5 Reasons For A Kid-Free Mini Getaway

Kid-free Getaway-Mom-Dad-TimeoutSome of you might already know that I’m a big fan of mini getaways. These getaways are usually a couple of days (tops), a couple of hours away and certainly kid-free. Don’t get me wrong. This doesn’t mean that we don’t travel with our little ones. For us, this just means that we need to recharge our parent batteries.

Our most recent getaway was a couple of weeks ago to Palm Springs, CA.  I know what you’re thinking. Who does she leave her kids with overnight? Well, fortunately for us, we have family about 30 miles away. And we’re very grateful that they agreed to watch our 8-month-old and four-year-old for a couple of days. 42 hours to be exact! Yes, I counted. Because as much as I love our adult-time, It’s always still bitter-sweet leaving the kiddos behind. More so since I’m still nursing our infant.

So here are our top 5 reasons why we go on kid-free weekend getaways.

1. Catch up on some Zzz’s

Our 8-month-old infant still wakes up every 2-3 hours at night. Need I say more?

2. To reconnect as a couple

This one is perhaps a given. And for sure a priority for us since we now have two little ones that need our attention pretty much 24/7.

3. Enjoy a nice kid-free meal

Sometimes I wonder if going out to dinner is worth doing with little ones. You see, our oldest, Mia, is severely allergic to eggs and now also allergic to walnuts. I worry that she will come into contact with an allergen while dining and that she’ll go into anaphylactic shock. I also worry about the baby crying her little heart out the entire time. She tends to get ultra fussy the minute we arrive at a restaurant.

A simple dinner or brunch with just myself and the Mr., feels like a load is instantly lifted off our shoulders and we get to really enjoy eating out.

4. Read a book/Magazine

Say what? If you’re a parent with little ones, I know you totally get me on this one. There’s absolutely zero time to do this at home with littles unless it’s reading children’s books and/or magazines.

5. Partake in adult activities

Ok, so this one might just be a bonus. Going to a spa, comedy club, winery or even a kid-free pool (like we did recently), certainly helps us recharge our parent batteries. Takes us back to when we were newlyweds and carefree.

So there you have it. A few reasons, ahem excuses, why we go on kid-free mini getaways. What do you do to recharge your parent batteries?

3 End of Summer Fashion Must-Haves

End-of-summer-must-haves-banana-republic

Skirt: Banana Republic $14.99 | Heels: Steve Madden Nude Pumps $99 | Blouse: Chambray (old) | T-Shirt: TJ Maxx $9 | Sunnies: Forever21 $5.90

End of summer brings warm days and cooler nights which makes putting outfits together tons of fun. It also means that fall is fast approaching and layering will be my new best friend. Who’s ready for fall?

Bright Skirts

Love wearing bright airy skirts during the end of summer. It’s sorta my farewell to summer and hello to fall. I paired this Banana Republic skirt with a long sleeve button down chambray blouse and heels for a quick dinner date with mi amor. Oh and the skirt was less than $15 (an additional 50% off sale price online). Best find ever!

End-of-summer-must-haves-banana-republicGingham Prints

Gingham prints are my absolute favorite to wear during fall. Perhaps it’s because it reminds me of picnics and having that perfect weather to be outdoors all day.  The print on this dress is perfect. Plus, the style is a great transition from summer to fall. Just add a blazer or leggings with booties for cooler days. And the button up part makes it a breeze to nurse my 7-month-old. I scored this one at TJ Maxx for less than $20. I also found a similar one at Macy’s for $69.99. Love wearing this casual dress with my red Converse. Definitely, an ideal outfit to chase after my soon-to-be kindergartener (sigh! they grow so fast) or in this case, carry around my monkeys at the zoo!

Twinning Tuesday: Indego Africa Romper

Indego Africa - Rompers - TargetI’m a huge supporter of companies that invest their profits back into the community. More so if it sells well-made products for my little ones. And these Indego Africa rompers are a perfect example of just that. They are made with high-quality fabrics and tons of love by moms in Rwanda.

Indego Africa invests 100% of their profits from product sales, with grants and donations, into education programs for the artisans who handcraft their products. They also provide them with courses from leadership and entrepreneurship to financial and business management to name a few.

“We believe that educating women is the key to long-term empowerment and social change. Through our education programs, our partners develop the knowledge and skills they need to grow their own enterprises, become entrepreneurs, and uplift entire communities—creating employment opportunities for others and setting new standards for what women can achieve.” — Indego Africa

Indego Africa - Rompers - TargetHow cute is this bright swirl pattern on the girls? The spaghetti ties and infant bottom snaps make it a cinch to get the girls dressed. And did you know Target carries them? Yes, Target for the win!

Good Vibe Tribe

GoodVibeLately, I can’t help but feel saddened with all the bad news shown in the media. Is it me or is the negativity, hatred and freak accidents just too much to bear, bypass and just keep chugging along with our day-to-day? These unfortunate events make me hold my kids a bit tighter and make me realize that time is beyond precious. And more importantly, that we have to be the change, stay positive and raise our kids to be good humans. To uplift and give off nothing but good vibes all around. Hence why this tank is on repeat.

Chambray Shirtdress + Neon

Dress: Banana Republic Textured Chambray Shirtdress (similar here) | Clutch: Target Merona Pouch |Shoes: Guess Coral Patent Pumps (old) |Sunnies: Betsyville Leopard Cateye || On Mia || Dress: Target | Shoes: Clarks Silver Sandals

I’m a big fan of chambray anything and everything. It’s lightweight and oh so comfortable. You can dress it up this season with the right accessories or dress it down. Which is why I’m always on the lookout for timeless chambray pieces.

This textured chambray shirtdress from Banana Republic is one of my latest steals. I found it at a Banana Republic outlet for 50% off ($35). I love how the material feels and all the simple details it has. It’s loose-fitting with a wrap around belt to hide the little baby weight I’m still haulin’ around. Plus, it’s nursing friendly. Need I say more?

I’m currently wearing the dress with pops of neon (neon coral pumps and neon clutch) and loving the contrast. Would you wear it?
