Mom Fashion Tips: Summer Shades

Let me start by saying that, yes, I might be a tad obsessed with sunglasses. I really think shades or glasses in general, are the best accessory anyone can wear. And if you’re anything like me, I lose these things just as much as I do my hair scrunchies. Anybody else with me on this one? I mean come on. One day I have a pair of shades in my diaper bag and then viola! the next day it just magically disappears. Little sticky fingers are usually the culprit. Ahem, Mia. I’ve found some of them looking mighty “stylish” as she calls it on her stuffed animals others have just gone somewhere into the abyss. But regardless, just another excuse to buy new ones, right?

These Betsy Johnson Betsyville shades help frame the shape of my face and are perfect for summer. Found them on clearance at my favorite store, Target.com and at only $7.48 each (70% off), I had to buy multiples. Is that a deal or what?

I’m a big fan of buying clothing items that I can make work for more than one season. This Zara charcoal dress, for example, is an oldie but goodie of mine that seems to be in my monthly if not weekly wardrobe rotation this season. In fact, I’ll also be wearing it well into this summer. And it’s definitely come in handy for nursing. How’s that for a win-win ladies?

P.S. I might have bribed Mia to take these photos. Two Marshmallow bunnies and a sucker to be exact. I then started to regret it once she started jumping off the walls. Ha! Not sure how much longer I’ll be able to snap photos with her.

Mom Fashion Tips: Spring Fringe

Mom Fashion Spring 2016 FringeSpring is just around the corner folks and I’m sure you’ve seen your fair share of fringe everywhere since last fall. Let me tell you, this 70s trend is definitely not going away anytime soon. It’s on jackets, purses, skirts, boots, you name it. So how do you wear fringe this spring without it looking too over the top? Well, in one word, accessorize. Just add a fringe-trimmed necklace, bracelet, sandal, backpack or bootie. Here’s an example of a super casual spring look that is both budget-friendly and comfortable enough to chase after the little nuggets.

Speaking of nuggets, our oldest loves flowers so naturally we bought her some pink flowers just in time to plant them in for Spring. Why pink? Well, it’s her favorite color of course; however, this just may change come next week. 😉

Mom Fashion Tips: Navy+Red

I may or may not have a 75% black wardrobe. Aside from it being my favorite color, it’s both flattering and pairs really well with just about any color.

Recently, although, I started to purchase an alternative color, navy. I love that it’s still a dark color but has a slightly different hue and goes well with bright colors. In this case, red.

This navy collar dress with white stitching is comfortable, nursing-friendly (buttons in the front) and it’s flattering as the belt really draws in the waistline. I’m currently wearing it with flats or for a more casual look with red converse. Would you wear it?

Mom Fashion Tips: Textured Skirts and Scarves

Mustard-Mini-Skirt

Mustard Textured Mini: Forever21 $19 | Booties: Burlington | Scarf: Gift From My Awesome Grandma | Hat: Forever21 | Leggings: Target

These past few weeks have been rough with a newborn and preschooler as we’re still trying to adjust and find our way back to a somewhat normal routine. But in all honesty, I’m loving every second of it. I’m realizing that time is not on our side and before we know it, they’ll be little ladies. So for now, I’m loving all the baby snuggles, massive diaper explosions, newborn thigh munchin’, late night feedings and preschooler sweaty hugs and wet kisses on repeat.

Also, if you’ve been following TMO for quite some time, you know it’s been a few weeks since I posted in our style segment. Since I’m finally starting to catch my breath sorta speak, I’m excited to announce that starting today, we’re moving forward with a new style segment called Mom Fashion Tips. The segment will consist of new trends, new products, and fashion steals.

Today’s post includes a fashion steal. This $19 mustard contemporary textured mini skirt adds an instant punch to this outfit. I know what you’re thinking. Really a mini skirt for moms and you’re telling me to wear it during winter? Yes, really! Just pair it with black leggings, a black 3/4 sleeve sweater, booties and accessorize with a cute hat and scarf. It’s a perfect postpartum outfit or for any mamá on-the-go as it’s super comfortable. So let me ask you, would you wear it?

Style The Bump: Black Peter Pan Collar Dress

Dress: Momo Maternity Tweet Texture with Faux Leather Peter Pan Collar | Leggings: Target | Sunnies: Target | Booties: Old

Ok – so I can already see the finish line for this pregnancy. I’m officially less than 2 weeks out and I seem to have mastered the waddle. All kidding aside, though, I’m no longer able to sleep at night and the back/ligament pain is starting to be unbearable. But, other than that life is great. Ha! And can I just say, I’m no longer able to jump on the treadmill. Geez, talk about being out of breath! At least baby girl is definitely getting in her workouts.

At any rate, I managed to dodge gestational diabetes with this little one up until 3 weeks ago! Yes, being so close to my due date and labeled as a gestational diabetic was saddening to hear. On the plus side, I’d rather it be towards the end of my pregnancy vs almost the entire pregnancy as I had with our first.

Style The Bump-Momo Maternity - Fashion -Pregnant - Wool - Dress - Peter Pan Collar - Tweed Fynn - 38 weeks pregnantSo what does this mean for me? Well, nothing too exciting or horrid for that matter but watching my diet closely and checking my blood sugar four times a day. Not too bad, right? I just can’t (or rather shouldn’t) eat that delicious holiday cookie or piece of pie as my sugar rises and my body can’t process it like it used to.

Style The Bump-Momo Maternity - Fashion -Pregnant - Wool - Dress - Peter Pan Collar - Tweed Fynn - 38 weeks pregnantLuckily, I’m fast approaching the finish line and keep reminding myself that this pregnancy is such a blessing. And, I know I’ve mentioned this before, but I really am trying to embrace the good, the bad and ugly with this second (last) pregnancy. Even though these past couple weeks have definitely been hard (I’m already getting contractions), I just keep telling myself, it will not last forever. And when it’s all said and done, I will sit back and reminisce on how I had a little person growing inside of me and wish I could do it all over again. Just maybe…Ok maybe not. 🙂

By the way, I’m currently rockin’ this super comfy Momo Maternity dress that’s perfect for me to waddle in and stay warm this winter. Something about the faux leather peter pan collar that gives this LBD a chic spin to my maternity winter wardrobe.

Style The Bump: Maternity Photos

A couple weeks ago, we had the pleasure of working with one of our favorite photographers, LilyRo. We met in front of the historic San Juan Capistrano Mission and could hardly wait to see what she had in store for us.

We had exactly one hour to take maternity photos as well as holiday photos. I thought for sure one or the other would be compromised with the attention span of our super active four-year-old; however, Lily was amazing as usual and was able to capture some real, sweet moments of our growing family.StyletheBump-Maternity-Photos-LilyRoPhotography

StyletheBump-Maternity-Photos-LilyRoPhotographyAnd by the way, I’m still in denial that our second little one will be here in a little over 2 weeks! And, although my back pain is starting to be unbearable and I’m getting false labor pains, I can’t help but feel overwhelmed and sad. You see, this is my second and final pregnancy and because of that, I tried my very best to enjoy and appreciate every second of it. But boy did it fly by!

To be able to experience this miracle growing inside of me is beyond words and such a blessing. We are so over the moon and can’t wait to meet our second little lovebug.

Style The Bump: Thanksgiving Outfit

Isabella Oliver - Style The Bump - Pregnancy Fashion - Maternity - Fashion - Grey Dress

Dress: Isabella Oliver | Necklace + Hat: Forever21 | Suede Booties: Burlington

It’s hard to believe how fast this pregnancy has gone by. To think, in less than four weeks we’ll be holding our second little bundle of joy is simply unreal. And, can I just say, we’re just now scrambling to get the nursery done and everything else that comes with having a baby? So not like me as I love to prepare for things well in advance. Guess it’s true that the second time around is way different.

Speaking of preparing for things in advance, have any of you picked out what you’ll be wearing this Thanksgiving Day? I absolutely love the comfortable maternity clothing that Isabella Oliver has to offer. This specific dark grey melange dress is the softest dress I’ve yet to own. It has a clever crossover detail that fits neatly above my bump. Not to mention it’s ultra comfortable for this growing bump of mine and the extra room I’ll be needing for the overload of yummy food I’ll be consuming Thanksgiving Day.

Suede Fringe Booties: Burlington $19.99| Maternity Jeans: Forever21 (Old) | Faux Leather Jacket: Forever21 (Old)| Shirt: Kohls (Old), Necklace: Forever21 (Old)| Sunnies: Oversized Aviators Target $16.99

This week, I’ve teamed up with a few fashion bloggers to show you how we incorporate fringe into our fall wardrobe. To be completely honest, I’m not a huge fan of fringe per say, but these camel suede booties had me at hello. And for $19.99, I simply could not pass them up. What do you think? Would you wear them?Style-The-Bump-Fringe-Jeans

Also, if you follow me, you might have noticed I bought these booties in black a few weeks back (click here to see blog post). I figured if they’re comfortable enough to wear during my pregnancy, I might as well get them in this gorgeous camel tone too. 🙂rp_IMG_0310-683x1024.jpg

Oh and let me not forget to mention these jeans. They are by far the most comfortable maternity jeans ever. The fit is truly just perfect. I’ve had them since my first pregnancy and they’ve held up pretty well for four years, but I’m saddened that they are no longer being sold. They’re Forever21 maternity jeans. Can someone please get them to bring back their maternity line? I believe I paid a whopping $10 for them. Best maternity wardrobe investment, ever.
