Ok – so I can already see the finish line for this pregnancy. I’m officially less than 2 weeks out and I seem to have mastered the waddle. All kidding aside, though, I’m no longer able to sleep at night and the back/ligament pain is starting to be unbearable. But, other than that life is great. Ha! And can I just say, I’m no longer able to jump on the treadmill. Geez, talk about being out of breath! At least baby girl is definitely getting in her workouts.

At any rate, I managed to dodge gestational diabetes with this little one up until 3 weeks ago! Yes, being so close to my due date and labeled as a gestational diabetic was saddening to hear. On the plus side, I’d rather it be towards the end of my pregnancy vs almost the entire pregnancy as I had with our first.

Well, nothing too exciting or horrid for that matter but watching my diet closely and checking my blood sugar four times a day. Not too bad, right? I just can’t (or rather shouldn’t) eat that delicious holiday cookie or piece of pie as my sugar rises and my body can’t process it like it used to.

Style The Bump-Momo Maternity - Fashion -Pregnant - Wool - Dress - Peter Pan Collar - Tweed Fynn - 38 weeks pregnantLuckily, I’m fast approaching the finish line and keep reminding myself that this pregnancy is such a blessing. And, I know I’ve mentioned this before, but I really am trying to embrace the good, the bad and ugly with this second (last) pregnancy. Even though these past couple weeks have definitely been hard (I’m already getting contractions), I just keep telling myself, it will not last forever. And when it’s all said and done, I will sit back and reminisce on how I had a little person growing inside of me and wish I could do it all over again. Just maybe…Ok maybe not. 🙂

By the way, I’m currently rockin’ this super comfy Momo Maternity dress that’s perfect for me to waddle in and stay warm this winter. Something about the faux leather peter pan collar that gives this LBD a chic spin to my maternity winter wardrobe.

A couple weeks ago, we had the pleasure of working with one of our favorite photographers, LilyRo. We met in front of the historic San Juan Capistrano Mission and could hardly wait to see what she had in store for us.

We had exactly one hour to take maternity photos as well as holiday photos. I thought for sure one or the other would be compromised with the attention span of our super active four-year-old; however, Lily was amazing as usual and was able to capture some real, sweet moments of our growing family.StyletheBump-Maternity-Photos-LilyRoPhotography

And, although my back pain is starting to be unbearable and I’m getting false labor pains, I can’t help but feel overwhelmed and sad. You see, this is my second and final pregnancy and because of that, I tried my very best to enjoy and appreciate every second of it. But boy did it fly by!

To be able to experience this miracle growing inside of me is beyond words and such a blessing. We are so over the moon and can’t wait to meet our second little lovebug.

Style The Bump: Fringe + Jeans

Style-The-Bump-Fringe-Jeans

Suede Fringe Booties: Burlington $19.99| Maternity Jeans: Forever21 (Old) | Faux Leather Jacket: Forever21 (Old)| Shirt: Kohls (Old), Necklace: Forever21 (Old)| Sunnies: Oversized Aviators Target $16.99

This week, I’ve teamed up with a few fashion bloggers to show you how we incorporate fringe into our fall wardrobe. To be completely honest, I’m not a huge fan of fringe per say, but these camel suede booties had me at hello. And for $19.99, I simply could not pass them up. What do you think? Would you wear them?Style-The-Bump-Fringe-Jeans

Also, if you follow me, you might have noticed I bought these booties in black a few weeks back (click here to see blog post). I figured if they’re comfortable enough to wear during my pregnancy, I might as well get them in this gorgeous camel tone too. 🙂rp_IMG_0310-683x1024.jpg

Oh and let me not forget to mention these jeans. They are by far the most comfortable maternity jeans ever. The fit is truly just perfect. I’ve had them since my first pregnancy and they’ve held up pretty well for four years, but I’m saddened that they are no longer being sold. They’re Forever21 maternity jeans. Can someone please get them to bring back their maternity line? I believe I paid a whopping $10 for them. Best maternity wardrobe investment, ever.

Style The Bump: Geometric Backpack

Mossimo-Target-Geometric-Backpack-Style The Bump-Pregnancy-Travel-BagWe’re ultra excited for our first international family vacation. Ahem, let’s face it, I get excited anytime we travel anywhere for that matter. But this time, however, it will be a bit more special as it’s Mia’s first time flying on a plane.

At any rate, I can’t wait to share with you all our experience of traveling to another country with our little family of three (soon-to-be four).

Also, wanted to share a great deal I found at Target that’s perfect for our trip. This geometric backpack was only $9.50!! Yes, you read that correctly.

Mossimo-Target-Geometric-Backpack-Style The Bump-Pregnancy-Travel-BagHere’s the breakdown.

Originally $29.99. On clearance at our local Target for $14.98 – $5 Target gift card (for previously spending $50) – 5% Target Red Card = $9.48!! No Cartwheel but still, a great find!

But, the best part of it all, it has two front pockets as well as pockets inside to hold all of Mia’s and mommies traveling essentials. Plus, it goes well with all of my outfits I’m traveling with. Love the print!

Style The Bump: Fall Booties & Love Spots

Bag: Steve Madden $24.99; Suede Ankle Boots: Burlington; Dress: Burlington $12.99; Floppy Hat: Burlington Clearance $6.50

Fall is just around the corner and although we’re still experiencing some pretty hot weather over in our neck of the woods, we somehow managed to get a couple of days this week that were much cooler than normal. For those days, I love mixing summer and fall pieces together.

Style-The-Bump-TheMotherOverload.com-Fall2015I’m really digging this high neck LBD which is also perfect for fall with leggings and these suede ankle booties with fringe I scored for only $24.99! I paired this fall/summer look with a floppy hat and my favorite crossover handbag from Steve Madden.

Style-The-Bump-TheMotherOverload.com-Fall2015 Style-The-Bump-TheMotherOverload.com-Fall2015And can we just pause for a minute to talk about Chloasma? It’s the dark, blotchy, brown, confetti-like patches of skin one gets during pregnancy either on the forehead, upper lip and/or cheeks.  Also known as “mask of pregnancy.”

Style-The-Bump-TheMotherOverload.com-Fall2015I started getting them on my cheeks and nose when I got pregnant with our first and it’s definitely getting worse with baby #2. It’s so tough to cover up with makeup without it looking like I have accidental blotches of mascara but looks like I’m not alone on this. According to an article written by What To Expect, “this condition affects 50 to 75 percent of expectant mothers.” I know it’s all part of being pregnant and the hyperpigmentation is something that can eventually be corrected so for the time being, I’m learning to embrace these motherhood love spots. At the end of the day, there are more meaning moments that will come from them and I’m honestly thankful and blessed to be able to have these little loves of mine.Style-The-Bump-TheMotherOverload.com-Fall2015

Style The Bump: Date Night

Style The Bump DateNightIt’s no secret that date nights post-kids are totally different than date nights pre-kids. Timing, scheduling, forking out extra cash for a sitter, finding a sitter, finding what to wear, deciding where to go and pulling off the little ones as you head out the door are just some key factors in deciding whether or not it’s even worth doing at all. But research has proven time and time again that date nights are essential in keeping the spark alive in a marriage.

“Couples who devote time specifically to one another at least once a week are markedly more likely to enjoy high-quality relationships and lower divorce rates, compared to couples who do not devote much couple time to one another”. – The Date Night Opportunity

Yet according to a survey made by Redbook, only 45% of couples “rarely” have date nights and only 18% confirmed they do so once a month. And rightfully so with all the variables one has to take into account post-kids.

However, Rey and I have always tried to make date nights a priority, even when at times it can be daunting or just plain hard to schedule. Date nights for us can be a quick dinner, a romantic candle light post-dinner dessert (or drinks pre-prego days) in our backyard patio (certainly while Mia sleeps) to the occasional weekend get-away. Yes, we have date nights at home. It’s the easiest and best on the pocketbook as well. But — that is if we don’t fall asleep by 9pm. 🙂

Recently, Rey surprised me with tickets to see The Phantom of The Opera in Hollywood. Since we love trying new restaurants and new things to do during our date nights, this surprise was perfect as neither of us had seen the show. The Phantom Of The Opera

Our amazing family agreed to watch our little one for the night so we were set to go. And then it hit me — I’m pregnant. What am I going to wear?! Needless to say, I had my little stylist on hand and we found a couple great deals a few days before date night. And by the way, shopping with a toddler is merely impossible but Mia loves accessories so this is how I kept her busy. Charming CharlieThis Forever21 LBD is beyond comfortable and a steal for only $20 off of their sales rack! Plus it’s perfect for the evening when the temperature drops a bit. Paired with a classic green clutch from Charming Charlie’s summer line and these comfy Calvin Klein heels and I was set to go.

How Hannah and Danielle style their bump for date night

Style The Bump Datenight

Dress: gap (recent); Shoes: forever 21 (old); Purse: vintage; Sunglasses: forever21 (out of stock)

My husband and I try to go on at least one date a week, which during the school year, as teachers, can be challenging, but we make it a priority. During the summer though, we get to have a lot more! We tend to go pretty casual and save the fancy places for special occasions. This outfit is what I wore to our favorite pizza restaurant for our Friday night date. I kept it comfy with this soft grey t shirt dress from Gap, but added a pair of wedges and a fun hairstyle to make it a little more special. I also wore a necklace my husband got me for one of our first valentines days together. With our baby boy due any day now, I have found it more important than ever to carve out time to purposefully spend together. My parents had a date night every week for my whole childhood, and I plan to do the same to keep us close to each other, and to get away for a little bit from our day to day lives!
