DIY: Succulent Wreath

Succulent-wreath-diy-summerSummer is just around the corner but for some of us, it seems to already be here. Just last week, we hit the 100s! And if you’re from California you know that our drought is not going anywhere anytime soon. So for that reason, and mainly because I seriously do not have a green thumb, I’m now a lover of all desert plants. Succulents to be exact. They require very little water if that plus they seem to be the it thing at the moment, right?

Just the other day, while at Hobby Lobby, I came across a really neat section of artificial succulents. They all looked so pretty! Some even looked real. I put on my DIY hat and decided to make a summer wreath with them. I purchased a $10 succulent garland, a handful of succulent picks and an 18” grapevine wreath. Most items were discounted 40-50% but there are a few online stores such as Consumer Crafts that also sell these items at greater discounted prices. And side note, I only grabbed the items that caught my eye immediately as shopping with two littles can be a task in itself.

I paid, headed home, fed the kiddos and within a few minutes, Lexi fell asleep. Phew! That meant I had exactly 30 minutes to get something done. Because it’s all about teething and catnaps over here. So instead of washing the dishes, doing laundry and hand washing some stains on Lexi’s clothes, I decided to make my summer garland. I told myself that if I didn’t do it now, I’d never get to it. And thankfully, Mia was preoccupied making Playdo outfits for her dinos and the wreath was actually super easy to make. I got it done in less than 30 minutes. Just in time!

Keep adding garland pieces until your satisfied with the way your wreath looks. And that’s all the steps needed to make this wreath. It’s the quickest one I’ve made yet.
