Making homemade pops for the little ones is not only cost-effective but also very nutritious. Did you know that kale is a good source of all kinds of vitamins and minerals? One serving offers a dose of dietary fiber, protein, thiamin, riboflavin, folate, iron, magnesium and phosphorus, and it’s also a very good source of Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin K, Vitamin B6, calcium, potassium, copper and manganese. Who knew?

So, Mia is not a big fan of this leafy green on its own, but she gobbles down these pops in one minute! In fact, she often even eats them in the morning – they are perfect for a quick breakfast, and the vitamins, fiber and protein give her a great start to the day. As if you need anymore reasons to eat kale, interestingly enough, this magic green even helps prevent constipation. Also, I try to buy organic fruits and veggies when they are in season and on sale to help cut down costs.

Make your own Strawberry Kale Cream Pops with my easy recipe below!


  • 1/3 cup organic vanilla yogurt
  • 1/3 cup vanilla almond milk
  • 1 cup organic baby kale
  • 1 cup organic strawberries, chopped
  • 1 tsp organic agave honey


  1. Blend yogurt, milk, honey and baby kale together until completely smooth. Add in strawberries and blend for a couple more seconds.
  2. Skim off foam. Divide mixture among popsicle mold cavities. I like using a mini stars pop mold I found at our local dollar store and/or the Zoku Mini Popsicle Mold (see image below).
  3. Add popsicle sticks. Place in the freezer. Freeze 3-4 hours.

***For extra sweetness, drizzle a bit of agave honey into each mold cavity and move it around so that it covers the entire area. Then add mixture and continue to follow steps 2-3.


Grown-Up Popsicles (Pop-tails)

Sometimes we all wish we could still be kids, but when adult beverages are concerned, I’m very happy to be all grown up! While making a healthy frozen treat for your little one, remember to treat yourself to a delicious grown-up popsicle (pop-tail). Here’s one of my favorite recipes.

Watermelon Mojito Pop-tails


  • 3/4 – 1 cup seedless watermelon, chopped
  • 3 mint leaves, chopped
  • 1/4 cup water (by pass adding water for a stronger kick)
  • 1/3 cup rum
  • 1 tablespoon organic agave honey


  1. Blend watermelon, water, rum and honey. Skim off foam.
  2. Divide mixture among Zoku Mini Popsicle Molds.
  3. Drizzle a pinch of mint into each mold cavity.
  4. Add popsicle sticks.
  5. Place in the freezer for 3-4 hours.
  6. Voila! Relax. Enjoy.
