With Valentine’s Day around the corner, I couldn’t wait to start decorating our home and mark the start of the 2023 holidays. Since our dining room is the first room our friends and family enter and gather around, it only made sense to start decorating there first. I thought it would also be fitting to have a brunch to celebrate the holiday. Today, I’m sharing my 7 sweet and simple tips for a Valentine’s Day brunch that will inspire you to create your own sweet space and more importantly that you’ll love entertaining in.

Tip #1: Choose A Statement Piece

When I think of decorating for Valentine’s Day, a few items come to mind: hearts, roses, candles, and everything in the shade of red. But how does one tie it all in without it looking cluttered? For this Valentine’s Day brunch, I went with a large modern white vase along with beautiful pink faux flowers and a gold love sign as my statement piece. I love how they served as my color guide when adding in all the additional pieces to the room – which by the way, are all from HomeGoods and less than $100!

Tip #2: Heart-shaped Waffle Board

During a visit to Dallas, Texas, last year we stayed at a hotel that served pancake boards. It was one of the most delicious and fun ideas we’ve seen yet. Naturally, I came home and tried to create a board with our own twist and favorite items. Waffles are a big hit over here and this heart-shaped waffle board might just now be on repeat all year long. I’m also loving this one-of-a-kind marble lazy susan board we found at HomeGoods! It’s so beautiful and perfect for the whole family to easily turn and grab all our favorite toppings and waffles.

Tip #3: Tablescape

We found the perfect Valentine’s day items for our dining table at HomeGoods. From beautiful pink ombre plates, heart-shaped marble coasters, chargers, kid-friendly flutes, napkins and more, Homegoods always has us covered! Also, these gold chargers are a great neutral color for Valentine’s Day and are so versatile that they can be easily used during all seasons. They even work well with layering.

Tip #4: Sparkling Cider Bar

And what’s a brunch without sparkling fun drinks? We absolutely love our new reusable kid-friendly flutes (dishwasher safe) and juice carafes. They are perfect for creating virgin mimosas. The kids especially loved adding fresh fruit to their sparkling cider from our new heart pattern fruit platter.

Tip #5: Faux Florals

Though pink florals tend to be associated with spring, they can also be a part of your Valentine’s Day decor. I love incorporating different shades of pink as well as white and some greenery to give the space a pop of color. The bonus? You can definitely continue to use these florals well into spring.

Tip #6: Heart-shaped Food

Besides a heart-shaped waffle board, include additional heart-shaped food items to your menu such as a homemade heart-shaped cake. The kids had so much fun helping me bake and decorate the cake for our brunch.

Tip #7: Soft Lighting

I love incorporating holiday scented candles into any space. They help add warmth to any space and not to mention smell divine. These HomeGoods heart-shaped scented candles are just what I was looking for. From large sized heart-shaped candles for our buffet table to small sized candles for our dining table, together they create a romantic yet cozy ambiance.
