Top 5 Reasons I’m Glad I Have A Sibling

“Siblings are one of the best things our parents bring in our life. They are our first friends. We are raised together with them and so siblings understand each other better than others. Relationships between siblings is a bit complicated especially in childhood. They fight and argue with each other every now and then but at the end of the day they can’t live without each other. At some point you believe them to be our biggest rival and at other moment feel immense love for them. With time as they mature, they understand each other much better and learn to respect more.” — Ignited

Growing up with a younger sister (4 years apart), I can absolutely relate. We loved on each other hard and fought with each other as if we were number one rivals. But there is something about sibling relationships that only siblings can fully empathize with. Sharing toys, being each others spokesperson, laughing at inside jokes, and the ability to always forgive one another.

Recently, I went through a role of old childhood photos. Feeling nostalgic, I came up with my top 5 reasons why I’m glad I have a sibling (sister).

Top 5 Reasons I’m Glad I Have A Sibling

24/7 Playmate – Having a sibling around meant always having a friend to play with.

Biggest alibi– Always, always had each other’s backs. Well except for when it meant either one of us would get in trouble with our parents. Ha!

Twice the wardrobe – I was fortunate enough that my sister and I wore the same size in clothes once we both hit our teens. And I may or may not still raid her closet to this day.

Always there for me – My sister has been there for me in times of need more so as we get older. We now share larger responsibilities that include caring for our parents and family.

Babysitter duty – I remember helping take care of my little sister and now she helps babysit my girls. Best sitter ever!

These are just a handful of reasons why I’m glad I have a sibling. The list is actually quite long but I’ll spare you the other 95.

And interestingly enough, my daughters are also four years apart (Not that I planned it that way) and seem to resemble us too in appearance. Every time I see these two do something new together I feel like I’m having some sort of déjà vu moment. All of my sibling childhood memories flashing right before me. A reminder of all the reasons I’m so grateful to have a sister.

I loved this post so much! Those photos of your little babes are too cute! My “sister” ( she’s actually my aunt who’s 8 months younger than me lol) means the absolute world to me! We were besties growing up and still are. Now we have our two little ones who play with each other and it’s the sweetest thing.

Aw, Gladys! This is such a great post! I have an older sister by 6 years. We fought all the time when we were younger because I was that little sister who wanted to cling on her 24/7. We started getting closer when I finally became “cool” at 15 lolol. Now we’re the best of friends. There’s part of me that’s sad I never gave my son a sibling, but the way I see it, my husband, myself and my son are the perfect little trio 🙂

  • 🍭💍Because it's a ring pop kinda party over here. Cheers to being 38! And yes, if you saw yesterday’s post, we have back to back birthdays. 😂🎉
.
.
Exactly two years ago, I was celebrating my 36th birthday at the hospital with a cranapple juice on the rocks, two beautiful healthy kiddos and an amazing birthing coach, my husband. Well at least he didn't pass out both times. 🤣😉 And a big thank you to @lilyro_ for always capturing the best moments. 🙏 #beyondblessed #beyondgratefulforthislifeofmine #itsmybirthday #motheroverloadhair
  • 🎉Today you are two! 🎉 And although we’ve been celebrating you hard all weekend long, I can’t help but get teary eyed that you’re no longer a baby today, officially. 😭 .
.
Love that you’re a foodie, feisty yet introverted, my personal trainer 😅, have a heart of gold, are hilarious and super independent at a young age. Ahem, we’ve entered the “no, I do it” stage. 🤣 But most of all, that you’re besties with your big sister.👯‍♀️💕

  • True story, I've always had a hard time finding a perfect cleanser. One that actually helps with my combination skin (plus is ideal with my acne-prone skin). Anyone else on the same boat? 💁‍♀️
.
.
Well this @Exuviance Clarifying Cleanser has been amazing in tackling both! It removes makeup, dirt and excess oil AND reduces bacteria that can trigger breakouts. But the best part is that it has a light botanical tea tree oil conditioner that soothes and improves skin texture. Absolutely loving how my skin feels clean afterwards. If this sounds like a product you could use, click the link in my bio! 🙌🏼😉#IworkwithExuviance  #skincare #healthyskin #Exuviance
  • 📚Mia: Hey Google! What is 19-4 and who is Abraham Lincoln? Google Mini: The answer is 15. According to wikipedia, Abraham Lincoln was an American statesmen and lawyer who served as the 16th president..." Mia: this thing is awesome mom! .
📝Love that Mia can go over her homework and make sure it's all correct using our Google Home Mini. .

🔍Google Home Mini has been helping us learn something new everyday! We can ask it any question, play games (hello Mickey Mouse Adventure & Star Wars Trivia!), listen to stories, holiday jams, and even ask about the weather. Next up, I'm having Mia write down our grocery list by asking Google Mini to help with spelling. 🙌🏼✨@madebygoogle #GoogleHome #ad #holidaygifts

  • You want your kids to grow up, and you don’t want your kids to grow up. You want your kids to become independent of you, BUT also a worse nightmare that they won’t need you. It’s like the real tragedy of parenting. —Jonathan Safran
