Top 5 Reasons I’m Glad I Have A Sibling

“Siblings are one of the best things our parents bring in our life. They are our first friends. We are raised together with them and so siblings understand each other better than others. Relationships between siblings is a bit complicated especially in childhood. They fight and argue with each other every now and then but at the end of the day they can’t live without each other. At some point you believe them to be our biggest rival and at other moment feel immense love for them. With time as they mature, they understand each other much better and learn to respect more.” — Ignited

Growing up with a younger sister (4 years apart), I can absolutely relate. We loved on each other hard and fought with each other as if we were number one rivals. But there is something about sibling relationships that only siblings can fully empathize with. Sharing toys, being each others spokesperson, laughing at inside jokes, and the ability to always forgive one another.

Recently, I went through a role of old childhood photos. Feeling nostalgic, I came up with my top 5 reasons why I’m glad I have a sibling (sister).

Top 5 Reasons I’m Glad I Have A Sibling

24/7 Playmate – Having a sibling around meant always having a friend to play with.

Biggest alibi– Always, always had each other’s backs. Well except for when it meant either one of us would get in trouble with our parents. Ha!

Twice the wardrobe – I was fortunate enough that my sister and I wore the same size in clothes once we both hit our teens. And I may or may not still raid her closet to this day.

Always there for me – My sister has been there for me in times of need more so as we get older. We now share larger responsibilities that include caring for our parents and family.

Babysitter duty – I remember helping take care of my little sister and now she helps babysit my girls. Best sitter ever!

These are just a handful of reasons why I’m glad I have a sibling. The list is actually quite long but I’ll spare you the other 95.

And interestingly enough, my daughters are also four years apart (Not that I planned it that way) and seem to resemble us too in appearance. Every time I see these two do something new together I feel like I’m having some sort of déjà vu moment. All of my sibling childhood memories flashing right before me. A reminder of all the reasons I’m so grateful to have a sister.

I loved this post so much! Those photos of your little babes are too cute! My “sister” ( she’s actually my aunt who’s 8 months younger than me lol) means the absolute world to me! We were besties growing up and still are. Now we have our two little ones who play with each other and it’s the sweetest thing.

Aw, Gladys! This is such a great post! I have an older sister by 6 years. We fought all the time when we were younger because I was that little sister who wanted to cling on her 24/7. We started getting closer when I finally became “cool” at 15 lolol. Now we’re the best of friends. There’s part of me that’s sad I never gave my son a sibling, but the way I see it, my husband, myself and my son are the perfect little trio 🙂

  • #ad I must confess, I’ve always wondered if Mia actually eats her hummus and veggies at school. Every time I ask her if she eats it all she always replies with a quick “yes mom.” And today I have evidence that she actually does love eating her @sabra hummus at school - I suspect the hummus helps get her to finish those veggies! 😉Swipe to see the cute drawings Mia made of her favorite animal and her favorite school snack. Side note, I just realized she’s pretty good at drawing too! Find these convenient Snack to School singles @target in the deli section. #lunchboxconfessions #SabraSingles #SabraPartner
  • Please READ!! Yesterday I cried UGLY. 😭 And when I say ugly I mean full on snot and puddles of water. You get the picture. Let me explain why. .

For 6 years, I’ve worked behind a computer and on my phone. My small home office plastered with motivational quotes, vision boards and goals that felt so unattainable. 6 years of hard work, pouring endless hours, late nights, tears and tons of love into my little blog. Followed by rounds of No’s and doors closing in on me. The thoughts of just throwing in the towel and giving up always crept in. But I’m here to tell you even with all of that, I pushed through. Heck I’m still pushing through. But yesterday, two moms that follow me (you know who are☺️) sent me the sweetest messages (I kid you not around the same time) thanking me for all the advice I gave them over the past year and that they are going to be working with their DREAM brand!!! I was so humbled to think I could actually make a huge impact like this on another mom! My heart is so full! ❤️ And then, guess what happened? That dream brand that was plastered on MY vision boards for 6 yrs sent me an email to work with them!! Never in my wildest dreams would I think they would pay me to create content for them but it’s happening! Moral of the story, (promise this isn’t in any way me trying to toot my own horn) just a reminder to NEVER ever give up on that goal even if it seems too far fetched or unattainable! You got this! I’m cheering for you mama! 👏Thank YOU for reading and sending love. And to my village that has always had my back, wouldn’t be here without you. Ok, off to celebrate in my pjs. 😆 Now tell me, if you could work with ANY brand in the entire world who would that be? Or if you’re wanting your own brand what would that be? #KindnessAlwaysWins #WomenEmpoweringWomen #ItTakesAVillage #staymotivated #momblogger
  • #ad If you've been following us for a while now you know that we love how durable and cloth-like @vivatowels Signature Cloth are. They’re perfect for cleaning tough dried on messes, like stove top grime and sticky juice. We were super excited to find the Viva Pop-Ups now that we’re back in school, too. They're the same great Signature Cloth but in a super convenient portable pop-up box. The best part is that one paper towel is dispensed at a time which makes them perfect to grab and use around the house. Especially now with the girls tracking messes in from extracurricular activities! Check them out at the link in my bio! #VivaCleanLikeCloth https://izea.it/aw7D2YC #morningview #momlife

  • 🏰 What's your favorite childhood memory? 🎡 ¿Cuál es tu recuerdo favorito de tu niñez?
.
.
.
For me, it was going to @Disneyland once a year with my family. I remember my parents saving up for our one-day trip for an entire year. I remember getting to the park right before they opened the doors and staying until midnight. Yet, somehow I don't recall being tired at all. I just remember all the fun times we had. This is exactly how I hope my little ones remember their childhood. ☺️🏰
P.S. Flashing back to exactly one year ago because my first born will be turning 8 next week! Cue in all the ugly crying. Followed by feeling grateful our babies are healthy and overly excited at the fact that we have something magical ✨ up our sleeves! Stay tuned!
