I am thrilled to share with you all a project that I’m backing up 100%.
Las Fotos Project is a nonprofit, community-based, arts mentorship program that serves Latina youth, ages 11-17, in the East Los Angeles neighborhood of Boyle Heights. Through their 12-week semester photography projects and creative writing workshops, Las Fotos Project educates and engages participants to become leaders in their community by documenting and sharing their stories. You can learn more about LFP here: www.lasfotosproject.org
They currently have a fundraiser on Crowdismo and are halfway towards their goal. The goal is to raise $5,000 for their upcoming summer and fall programs within the next 5 days. Additionally, they are always looking for LA-based photographers who can commit to volunteering for 12 weeks, a time commitment of 2 hours per week. That info can be found here:www.lasfotosproject.org/volunteer.
This project empowers young women via the art of photography. I love everything about this organization and what it stands for and I hope you do as well! If so, please help by donating and/or volunteering.
